Why pre-wired bars save real installation time

Every complete kit in the catalogue arrives with the lighting already mounted on the bar and the wiring loom fitted, tested and labelled at the factory. That sounds like a small convenience. On a machine that earns money by the hour, it is the difference between an afternoon of fiddling above the cab and a straightforward mechanical job.
What pre-wired actually means
The manufacturer's product sheets (PD sheets, which we translate from Swedish and archive) document the loom that leaves the factory on each bar. The leads are individually labelled. Across the range the same labels come back:
- Work light in and Work light out: the pass-through for the machine's work light circuit
- Position light in: feed for the white, orange and red position lights on the bar
- Flashlight in: feed for the LED flashlights
- Flashlight night dimming (+): a separate lead, designed to be connected to a switch
Because every lead has a name, connecting the bar is a matter of matching labels to the machine's circuits, not tracing anonymous wires with a multimeter.
The night dimming lead
The dimming lead deserves a note of its own. Wired to a switch in the cab, it lets the operator dim the flashlights: full output is right in daytime traffic, but blinding on a dark job site or in convoy at night. It is a small feature you only appreciate once you have worked a night shift behind full-power flashers.
The position light switch
The product sheets also state that when a bar is mounted on a class 1 motorised implement, the position lights must be wired through a switch. Why this saves installation hours
Speaking from general installation practice (not a manufacturer specification): the expensive part of fitting lighting is rarely the mechanical mounting. It is building and routing a loom at height, crimping in the wind, and debugging the one connection that almost worked. A factory loom is built for the exact geometry of the bar, every lamp is already connected, and the assembly is put together as one tested unit. What remains on site is mounting the bar and connecting labelled leads to known circuits.
One thing pre-wiring does not do
Pre-wiring covers the bar side. The machine side (which circuit feeds what, fuse ratings, where a switch goes in your cab) remains machine-specific and is your installer's call.
