Roof, hood, grille, counterweight or side: which bar type fits your machine?

Bars come in five mounting locations: roof, hood, grille, counterweight and side. Which one your machine takes is not a matter of taste. The range follows how each machine type is built and where the visibility gaps are. A tour of the catalogue, by machine type.

Roof bars: the all-rounder

Roof bars are the largest single group in the catalogue and the only type that spans every machine category: excavators, wheel loaders and tractors alike. The roof is high, structural and usually already provided with bolt holes; most roof bars mount on the machine's original roof bolts or in existing holes. A roof bar puts flashlights and position lights at the highest point of the machine, visible over obstacles, and on Package 3 versions it also carries the LED light bar.

Counterweight bars: the excavator speciality

For excavators, the counterweight bar is the speciality of this range; in our catalogue it is actually the largest excavator group, ahead of roof bars. The logic is visibility where an excavator is most dangerous: the rear. The counterweight swings, and it swings fast; a bar along its edge carries position lights (typically red and orange) and flashlights right at the point other people misjudge. Fitment is highly model-specific (a counterweight bar follows the exact casting it sits on), so the fitment line on the product page is decisive.

Hood and grille bars: wheel loaders

On wheel loaders the lighting goes where the machine is: hood bars on the engine hood at the rear, grille bars at the front. The wheel loader selection in the catalogue is roof plus hood, with grille bars for specific models. Rear visibility matters here for the same reason as on excavators: reversing is where the risk is.

Side bars: covering the flank

Side bars appear mainly for excavators. Note the qualifiers in their fitment lines: several are specified for machines with or without factory steps; the same model can need a different bar depending on that detail. Read the fitment line verbatim; it is quoted on every product page exactly as the manufacturer publishes it.

Beacon bars and accessories

Beacon bars are stand-alone warning-light carriers, and the accessories group holds work lights, brackets, cable parts and other add-ons. Many list exactly which bars they fit, and product pages cross-link them.

Start from your machine, not from the bar type: pick your brand and model and the catalogue shows what exists for it. If a location you expected is missing for your model, ask us. The range is wider than what is published online.
